Milky Glass

Pendant Light
Client : Panasonic Corporation, Hirota Glass, Japan

It is a lighting equipment which is designed for the first Tokyo Business Design Award adopting one of the traditional glass molding technique "The Aburidashi Technique" that continues from the Taisho era.
By using "Bone Ash," opalescent colors can be produced by taking advantage of its specific properties. These colors are produced through the exposure of the raw material to a sudden change in temperature during the process of glass heating and cooling at the time of molding.
Through this manner, the "Aburidashi Technique" can generate a variety of artistic patterns in the glass.
